World Congress of Families Founder To Speak At Rockford Townhall Meeting on the Family

Rockford, IL – On Thursday, October 20th Dr. Allan Carlson, founder of the World Congress of Families and president of The Howard Center for Family, Religion and Society will be the featured speaker at a Townhall Meeting on the Family.  The event, sponsored by Concerned Citizens for America (CCA), is entitled, “Beyond the Culture War: Introducing the Natural Family Resolution.”  Dr. Carlson will speak about the “Family Manifesto” which he co-authored with Paul Mero of the Sutherland Institute.  Copies of the Manifesto can be downloaded at:

www.familymanifesto.org or www.worldcongress.org.

“The Natural Family: A Manifesto” has gathered endorsement from pro-family leaders and inspired people around the world (endorsements online at http://familymanifesto.org).  Jan Klaas, president of CCA, was inspired to convene the Townhall Meeting and create a Natural Family Resolution after reading The Manifesto.  Klaas plans to introduce the Resolution on the Natural Family locally to both the Rockford City Council and the Winnebago County Board.  “We need a blueprint and a vision to solve our community problems.  This Natural Family Resolution provides the framework for improving our cities, our nation and our world.  This effort provides us with an opportunity for us to transcend politics as usual, socio-economic divisions, and racial divides to unite our community to improve the lives of everyone,” said Klaas.

Event Details:

When: Thursday, October 20th, 7:00pm

Where: Central Christian Church, 6527 Guilford Road, Rockford, Illinois.

In addition to The Natural Family: A Manifesto, Dr. Carlson is the author of 8 books on the history of the family and family policy including, Fractured Generations: Crafting A Family Policy For the 21st Century, The 'American Way': Family And Community In The Shaping Of The American Identity; The Swedish Experiment In Family Politics; and Family Questions: Reflections On The American Social Crisis. Allan Carlson holds his Ph.D. in Modern European History from Ohio University.  A full bio of Allan Carlson is available at:

Dr. Carlson is also founder and convener of the World Congress of Families (WCF).  At WCF III in Mexico City, in 2004, more than 3,300 delegates from around the world adopted The Mexico City Declaration, an international declaration of principles affirming the natural family as the fundamental unit of society.

To date, World Congresses of Families have been held in Prague (1997), Geneva (1999) and in Mexico City last year. World Congress of Families IV is planned for 2007 at a site still to be determined.
