Allan Carlson is President of The Howard Center for Family, Religion & Society in Illinois, and also currently serves as Distinguished Visiting Professor of Political Science and History at Hillsdale College, Michigan. He earned his Ph.D. in Modern History from Ohio University. He is Founding Editor of The Family in America: A Journal of Public Policy and also serves on the editorial boards of Touchstone: A Journal of Mere Christianity and The Intercollegiate Review. During the Reagan administration, he served via Presidential appointment as a member of The National Commission on Children. His ten books include: Conjugal America: On the Public Purposes of Marriage; Fractured Generations: Crafting a Family Policy for Twentieth Century America; The 'American Way': Family and Community in the Shaping of the American Identity; and The Natural Family: A Manifesto (with Paul Mero). He has been a frequent media guest, including interviews on ABC, CBS, and NBC News, MSNBC.
